About

I'm Chris, a developer, student, and general awesome person.

This blog is where I pretend to be an expert at things.

Fun stuff:

The code for the blog (and its many implementations) is open source. You can check it out on Github. Doh! Removed. Pesky AWS credentials in git history..

Though I do actually blog every 7 months or so, this site is mostly a play ground for messing about with new web technologies.

For those interested:

Current Stack:

V0.2.0

  • Nginx
  • Gunicorn
  • Postgres
  • Django
  • Rest Framework
  • Python27

More geek notes for Django nerds: All django/memcached caching is actually disabled -- or, well, more specifically, set to the DummyCache. It's sole purpose now it to pump the relevant headers out to Nginx so that it can do the whole Http Accelerator thing that it does so well.

Previous Implementations:

V0.1.0

  • Nginx
  • memcached
  • RabbitMQ
  • Celery
  • Gunicorn
  • Django
  • Python27

Far too many moving parts for a simple blog with ho-hum traffic. It was an exercise in putting Django Doesn't Scale style practices into place.
