Bird Feeder Attempt #2

The first attempt sucked. It's now some trash I keep on a shelf. This attempt is basically just a serving tray, because that's how ground feeders, like Juncos, prefer to eat.

An adult trying his best:

I thought I could fancy up this serving tray with some inlaid decoration.

Despite a tedious hour of finagling with a spoke shave, I never managed a good fit. So, I just clamped the hell out of it.

Milling stock by hand takes forever, but it is deeply satisfying.

I couldn't figure out how to clamp the rails, so: tape.

And hand planes for clamping pressure.

Sanded.

Freshly finished and with the worst miter on full display.

I imagined it much more elegant in my head, but... alas.
